AUTHOR
Sean Wright's first article was published by East Anglia Monthly in 1985 - a 1500 word two-page spread on Sean's childhood hero - anti-slavery campaigner, Thomas Clarkson. Wright wrote for many trade journals and magazines, publishing his first children's novel in 2003, and subsequently 12 more novels between 2003-2008. The buzz around Sean's book "The Twisted Root of Jaarfindor" garnered the attention of national newspaper The Guardian - with the newspaper picking up on the major distribution deal Wright signed with Waterstones Booksellers in October 2004. Sean became a well-known and successful cross-over author, named alongside JK Rowling, Philip Pullman, and GP Taylor as an author worth collecting (Book and Magazine Collector - July 2004 and The Guardian daily newspaper - December 2004).
In April 2005, in recognition of remarkable sales figures in London's Royal Bookshop, Hatchards, Piccadilly, Sean was named one of Hatchard's Authors of the Year - and attended a ceremony in London where he met fellow Authors of the Year, Andrew Marr, Charles Spencer, 9th Earl Spencer, younger brother of Diana, Princess of Wales, and writing legends Jaqueline Wilson and PD James. Sean has been a British Fantasy Award finalist 3 times for his excellence in writing within the science fiction and fantasy genres.
Sean's influence on the publishing world, within the new sub-genre cross-over fiction, has been written about by Canadian Professor Sandra L. Beckett, in her academic history and criticism book "Crossover Fiction: Global & Historical Perspective" (published in New York & London by Routledge, 2008). He has written articles for Leisure Painter - the UK's best-selling learn-to-paint magazine.
